The Bishop

The bishop moves diagonally across the board. Each bishop stays on the same color squares.

CHESS PIECES

The white and black bishops are located at squares c1, f1 and c8, f8 - as illustrated in the diagram.

A bishop can never change from a light-squared bishop to a dark-squared bishop or vice-versa. It can capture an enemy piece by moving to the occupied square and can move as many squares as it likes, as long as it is not blocked by another piece or an occupied square.

Starting Position

While they both move around diagonally, one brother will always stay on the light squares, while the other stays only on the dark.

The Bishop is a powerful long-range piece, famous for making piercing pins, and aiming at hopeless enemies from afar.
